In-App Notifications

Tidy Names keeps you informed with real-time notifications inside the app. The notification bell in the top navigation bar shows your unread count at a glance, so you never miss important events.

Accessing Notifications

  1. Look for the bell icon in the top navigation bar
  2. The badge on the bell shows how many unread notifications you have
  3. Click the bell to open the notification panel

Notification Types

You receive notifications for a range of events across your organisation:

Domain events

  • Domain expiring - a domain is approaching its expiry date
  • Domain expired - a domain has passed its expiry date

Sync events

  • Sync complete - a registrar connection has finished syncing your domains
  • Sync error - a registrar sync encountered a problem that needs attention

Watchlist events

  • Watchlist domain available - a domain you are watching has become available for registration

Team events

  • Member joined - a new member has accepted an invitation and joined your organisation

Security events

  • Security issue - an email security or DNS configuration issue has been detected

Billing events

  • Payment failed - a payment attempt was unsuccessful
  • Payment recovered - a previously failed payment has been collected
  • Trial expiring - your trial period is ending soon
  • Plan change - your organisation's plan has been upgraded, downgraded, or modified

Managing Notifications

Marking as read

  • Click on any notification to mark it as read and navigate to the relevant page
  • To mark all notifications as read at once, click Mark all as read at the top of the notification panel

Automatic cleanup

Old notifications are automatically removed to keep your panel tidy:

  • Read notifications older than 30 days are removed
  • All notifications (read or unread) older than 90 days are removed

You do not need to manually clear old notifications.

Notifications vs. Email Alerts

In-app notifications and email alerts are separate systems that work alongside each other:

You receive both in-app notifications and email alerts for events that trigger both. Marking a notification as read in the app does not affect your email alerts, and vice versa.

Tips

  • Check the bell icon regularly if you do not have email alerts enabled
  • A Sync error notification usually means your registrar connection needs attention - click it to go directly to the connection settings
  • Payment failed notifications are sent to organisation owners and members with a billing role - act on these quickly to avoid service interruption

Troubleshooting

No notifications appearing

Notifications are generated as events occur. If your organisation has had no recent activity, the panel may be empty.

Notification count seems wrong

The badge count reflects unread notifications only. Open the panel and mark items as read to reset the count. Notifications older than 90 days are automatically removed, which may also reduce the count.
