Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out what is and is not permitted when using the Tidy Names service. By using the service, you agree to comply with this Policy. We may update this Policy from time to time, and your continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Permitted Use

The service is designed for legitimate domain portfolio management. Permitted uses include:

Domain monitoring. Connecting registrar accounts that you own or are authorized to manage for the purpose of tracking domain expiry dates, DNS records, and renewal costs.

Team collaboration. Inviting team members who are authorized to access the domains in your organisation and assigning appropriate roles and permissions.

Data export. Exporting your own domain data in supported formats for backup, reporting, or compliance purposes.

Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited when using the service:

Unauthorized access. Connecting registrar accounts that you do not own or are not authorized to manage. Using credentials obtained without the account holder's consent.

Credential sharing. Sharing your Tidy Names account credentials with unauthorized parties or distributing API keys to third parties without authorization.

Abuse of service. Attempting to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure, including denial-of-service attacks, resource exhaustion, or deliberate exploitation of vulnerabilities.

Automated scraping. Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to extract data from the service outside of the provided API. Automated access must go through documented API endpoints.

Reverse engineering. Decompiling, disassembling, or reverse engineering the service or any part of its software, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.

Resale without authorization. Reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing access to the service without a written agreement from Tidy Names.

Illegal activity. Using the service in connection with any unlawful activity, including but not limited to domain fraud, cybersquatting, or phishing.

API Usage

Rate limits apply to all API endpoints. Automated use of the service must go through the documented API and respect published rate limits. Excessive API calls that degrade the service for other users may be throttled or temporarily blocked without notice.

Enforcement

Violations of this Policy may result in a warning, temporary suspension of your account, or permanent termination of access. We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to take appropriate action at our sole discretion. In cases of serious or repeated violations, access may be terminated without prior notice.
