Alerts

Tidy Names sends email alerts before your domains expire so you have time to renew them. Configure which thresholds matter to you and let Tidy Names handle the rest.

How Alerts Work

A daily cron job runs at 08:00 UTC and checks every domain in your organisation against the alert thresholds you've enabled. If a domain is expiring within one of your active thresholds, you receive an email. Each alert is sent only once per domain per threshold to avoid duplicate notifications.

Alert Thresholds

You can enable or disable notifications at each of these intervals before expiry:

  • 30 days - early warning for planning
  • 14 days - two-week reminder
  • 7 days - one-week urgent reminder
  • 1 day - final notice

There is also a master toggle to enable or disable all alerts at once.

Configuring Your Preferences

  1. Go to Alerts in the sidebar
  2. Toggle the Expiration Alerts switch to enable alerts
  3. Select which thresholds you want to receive (30, 14, 7, and/or 1 day)
  4. Click Save

Alert preferences are per-user, per-organisation. If you belong to multiple organisations, you can configure different preferences for each.

Alert Emails

Each alert email lists the domains approaching expiry at that threshold, along with:

  • The domain name and current expiry date
  • Days remaining until expiration
  • The registrar holding the domain

Troubleshooting

  • Not receiving alerts? Check that alerts are enabled and at least one threshold is active. Also check your spam folder.
  • Duplicate alerts? Each threshold fires once per domain. If you receive duplicates, you may have the same domain in multiple organisations.
